Private Hearing

Sources

Last reviewed 5 October 2026 by Pete, editor (not a clinician). Prices checked 5 October 2026.

These are the pages we opened to write this website, with the date we opened each one. Prices come from each provider's own page, the wait figure from NHS England's monthly diagnostics data, and clinical dates from NICE NG98. If we cannot reopen a page, we delete what it supported.

Which pages did you open?

All of the pages below were opened on 5 October 2026. We keep a dated copy of each.

NHS England, NICE and the NHS website

Provider price pages

Which pages could you not use?

  • Amplifon UK. Its old price page now redirects to Audika's home page, and Audika says Hidden Hearing and Amplifon have become Audika. We could not open an Amplifon price list, so there is no Amplifon row.
  • Hidden Hearing. Its website now redirects to Audika. We use Audika's own pages instead.
  • Boots Hearingcare home visits. We did not find a Boots Hearingcare home-visit page we could open, so the home-visit table has no Boots row.
  • Audika prices. Audika's price page does not publish a price, so its row says so rather than giving a figure.

How do you date a source?

By the day we opened it. Where a page shows its own review date, as NHS website pages do, we give that too. NHS England statistics are named by the month they cover and the day they were published.

What can this site do, and what can it not do?

This is not medical advice. We are not a clinic, not the NHS, not an audiologist and not a hearing-aid shop. We do not test hearing, fit aids, diagnose, read an audiogram or hold an appointment. We cannot tell you whether a hearing aid would help you.

Do not use this form if you have sudden hearing loss in one ear, sudden dizziness with hearing loss, or bleeding from the ear. NICE guideline NG98 (last updated 2 October 2023) says hearing loss that came on over three days or less, within the last 30 days, should be seen by a specialist within 24 hours. Ask for a same-day GP appointment, call 111, or go to A&E.

What we can do: show the prices we opened and dated, explain the NHS and private routes, and, if you ask, pass your request to one independent audiology clinic that covers your area. That is free for you. The clinic may pay us.

Why is there no Amplifon price?

Because Amplifon UK's website now redirects to Audika, and Audika does not publish a price. We do not use older figures we cannot reopen.

How often do you recheck these sources?

On the first Monday of each month, and whenever someone tells us a figure has changed.

Looking for a hearing test or aids? Request a private hearing appointment. Free for you; the clinic may pay us.
