Who is Pete?
Pete is the editor of this website. He is not a clinician. He does not test hearing, recommend hearing aids or read results. His job is to find what providers and the NHS publish, open it, date it, and explain it so you can compare like with like.
What is this website for?
People in England who are thinking about a private hearing test or private hearing aids. We explain what is free on the NHS, what private providers charge, how long the NHS wait is, and what is included in a price. If you ask, we pass your request to one independent audiology clinic that covers your area. We sell the introduction, not the aid.
What does this website not do?
- It does not give medical advice.
- It does not tell anyone whether to get a hearing aid.
- It does not read audiograms or test results.
- It does not rank clinics or publish star ratings.
- It does not book confirmed appointments.
How do I contact you?
Email hello@private-hearing.co.uk or call 01455 242326. If you think something on the site is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the source. See our editorial policy.
What can this site do, and what can it not do?
This is not medical advice. We are not a clinic, not the NHS, not an audiologist and not a hearing-aid shop. We do not test hearing, fit aids, diagnose, read an audiogram or hold an appointment. We cannot tell you whether a hearing aid would help you.
Do not use this form if you have sudden hearing loss in one ear, sudden dizziness with hearing loss, or bleeding from the ear. NICE guideline NG98 (last updated 2 October 2023) says hearing loss that came on over three days or less, within the last 30 days, should be seen by a specialist within 24 hours. Ask for a same-day GP appointment, call 111, or go to A&E.
What we can do: show the prices we opened and dated, explain the NHS and private routes, and, if you ask, pass your request to one independent audiology clinic that covers your area. That is free for you. The clinic may pay us.
Is Pete an audiologist?
No. Pete is the editor and is not a clinician. Nothing on this website is medical advice.
Is Private Hearing part of the NHS?
No. We are a private company, PASECOM GROUP LTD, and we are not connected to the NHS or to any hearing-aid manufacturer.
Looking for a hearing test or aids? Request a private hearing appointment. Free for you; the clinic may pay us.
